Your Saturday

Read the New Fork, then go to the lake

The town gage sits on the west edge. Check today's cubic feet per second before you guess the river. The lake is a short drive north. No dogs on Sandy Beach.

Before you go

Six things to know before you go.

Dogs, phones, water, and hours. The same facts appear on the pages they belong to.

  1. 01

    No dogs on Sandy Beach

Fremont Lake's family swim shore is the one place the dog stays in the truck. Other shoreline is fine.

  2. 02

    Call the ranger first

  3. 03

911 is not the sheriff's desk

Flashing lights: 911. Everything else: sheriff non-emergency 307-367-4378, weekdays 8–5.

    Life safety
  4. 04

    Drink water at 7,182 feet

The first night feels thinner than Jackson or Denver. Drink more water than you think you need.

    Altitude lungs
  5. 05

The Overlook is colder than town

Race-day 10K start sits above the lake. September mornings freeze. Check the low before you pin a bib.
